Located in Toronto, Bayview Village is a well-thought and thoroughly planned neighborhood. It makes part of two electoral districts within the city: Don Valley North and Willowdale. Its boundaries are set by Finch Avenue East to the north, Bayview Avenue to the west, Leslie Street to the east, and Highway 401 to the south.

About Bayview Village
The area was planned in 1954. It was conceived as “contemporary living in the countryside” offering people a quiet alternative to the
cosmopolitan lifestyle of the then Metro Toronto. With that in mind, the town planners respected the environment and natural resources available in the region.
Bayview Village Architecture
Bayview Village is bordered by eastern Don Valley Parklands, which influenced the design and layout of the neighborhood greatly. Dr. E.G Faludi – the town’s designer – considered that Don Valley Parklands were extremely important for the development of the region. Therefore, he decided to “fit the community into the landscape and not the landscape into the community.”
The result of that plan was a set of curvilinear streets and avenues that perfectly adapt to the landscape and follow the natural shapes of the land.
This unique design has become the neighborhood’s trademark along with the extensive amount of green areas.
But Bayview Village wasn’t always a nature-inspired residential area. Before becoming a well-planned neighborhood, the land served as stable to train racehorses.
That heritage is present today in the name of some streets in the community including Citation Drive in honor to the American Triple Crown-winning thoroughbred racehorse. Ravenscroft Circle and Palomino Cres. are also street names that recall the racehorse training period.
