Shopping Anyone?

Eaton Centre features more than two hundred and fifty stores ready to receive the more than 50 million shopping voyagers who come to visit it from every corner of the planet every year. The Centre has four levels to explore, and you can buy practically anything there, from jewelry to electronic goods, to fashion accessories to Thai and Indian food. Everything is there, at Eaton Centre. An excellent piece of advice: before going shopping to the Centre, make sure you take a look at the center´s website to see the list of promotions the stores offer. After all, saving a few bucks doesn´t hurt and is fun.

Once in the Centre, if you happen to get hungry, go to Urban Eatery, situated on the Concourse level and get a bite to eat. There, you can have access to twenty-four self-service restaurants and have a seat at any of the one-thousand chairs available. Now, enjoy yourself and choose from options that range from fast food to Toronto’s delicacies, to international cuisine and bars.

The shopping and the meals there are indisputably fantastic, but wait until you see the striking glass ceiling that tops the Centre. The architectural style of this building resembles the Italian Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, located in Milan, Italy. The barrel vaulted glass gallery that runs the complete length of the building was modeled after the Italian structure. Inside the Centre, you can enjoy the view of sixty spectacular sculptures of Canadian geese created by the artist Michael Snow.

This Eaton Centre is located in downtown Toronto. You can get there by subway or by bus. If you drive, park at the metered parking which can take some one- thousand and three hundred vehicles.

A favorite way to get to Eaton Centre is via the underground pedestrian tunnels that connect the areas below downtown and the financial district. These tunnels have stores and shopping arcades. Try using this PATH, as it is called because it is a fun way to stroll around all of this fantastic commercial zone. The massive number of Canadian visitors and international travelers who are welcomed to Eaton Center, make it a worthy rival of the CN Tower for the top tourist destination in town. When you come here driving, you could avoid the expensive parking fees by parking for free at a GO station and then use a GO train to Union Station. You can also save a few bucks by taking the free shuttle that some hotels offer to and from the Centre.

At any rate, don´t miss visiting Eaton Center on your next trip to Toronto as it is one of the busiest and most impressive shopping centers in the world. It has some interesting story behind its name like the Matrix Locksmith, which comes from Eaton stores. These stores were trendy in Canada, and its catalogs became a household name in the country. Unfortunately, the stores disappeared time ago, but the name was kept as a tribute to the highly respected chain.
