ABOUT THE ANNEX
The Annex is a neighborhood located in Downtown Toronto known for its well-educated residents. It is limited by Bathurst Street on the west, Avenue Road on the east, Bloor Street on the south, and Dupont Street on the north. Although these are its traditional boundaries, the City Hall also includes Yorkville and Seaton Village as part of The Annex.

Given its proximity to the University of Toronto, the area has always received a large number of students among its residents. Additionally, the neighborhood is home to many fraternities and sororities.
This vibrant neighborhood is primarily residential. Its streets still feature leafy, big trees and beautiful houses built in the 1800s and 1900s. Most of the area’s original architecture remains untouched, with its characteristic Victorian and Edwardian architecture style. However, some houses and mansions were demolished during the 1950s and 1960s to build more housing space for the growing population. The area grew demographically and financially, developing into a suburban area and filled with mid- and high-rise apartment buildings. The neighborhood has one of the highest incomes in Toronto.Contrary to most suburban areas in Toronto, The Annex does not house a large community of immigrants. The majority of the people living there are Canadian, and the few immigrants settled in this area are British or American.
Nowadays, The Annex depicts the perfect balance between the past and the present. The contrast between the old mansions and the modern buildings gives the neighborhood a unique appearance that draws the attention of locals and visitors.
