With a history that goes back two hundred years, Hoggs Hollow is one of the most affluent hexagonal geographical pockets on Toronto’s map. The neighborhood is described as being nestled between other millionaire’s miles; York Mills in the north, Yonge Street in the west, Bayview Avenue in the east, and Lawrence Avenue East in the South.

The area was initially settled in 1824 by James Hogg, a wealthy Scotsman who was a whiskey distiller and miller. His business was considered the most successful mill in the whole area at the time.
Hoggs Hollow was born in 1856 as a subdivision created by James´ sons John and William who subdivided the estate after the passing of their father.
However, at the time of the subdivision, only a few homes were built although there were more than one hundred forty lots available. The urbanization process of present-day Hogg Hollow restarted in the 1920s, went on gradually, and concluded in the 1960s.
Four homes of those initially built in 1856 remain as historic landmarks in the neighborhood. Two of them on Yonge Street serving as the entrance to a local restaurant, and the other two on Old Yong Street. The Miller Tavern, at 3885 Yonge Street and the George S. Pratt House on Mill Street are the two other buildings remaining as historic sites in the area.
Nowadays, this affluent and varied neighborhood has an average household income is $ 406,499.
Its well-to-do residents are first, second, and third generation settlers coming from Europe, Iran, China, and Korea.
